John and I weren’t ready to retire so we followed our passion of antiques, stories and people and opened up an antique/vintage/art shop.
I’ve been cottaging on Chandos Lake in North Kawartha Township since 1983 and it was my dream to one day open up a store in Apsley. When the quaint Tucker home was put on the market it seemed that my dream would become reality. John and I opened the doors of White Pine Antiques and Collectables in August of 2013. This store is seasonal. We’re open weekends in May, June and September and in July and August we’re open every day.
The beautiful White Pine trees on the property gave us the inspiration for the name of our store.
Sometimes ideas just have a will of their own!!!!! We live in Lindsay and we were storing our stock in a warehouse. It was sad to think that we would only be active in our seasonal Apsley location for part of the year Sooooooooo we decided to open up the warehouse 4 days a week.
Eventually, we moved to our new home at 104 Lindsay Street South in Lindsay. This location is open Wednesday to Sunday year round. On Monday and Tuesday we’re open “by chance”.
It’s hard to classify the store. We have a little bit of a large variety of things: antique, and vintage furniture, china, crystal, glassware and earthenware, lighting, hardware, kitchen appliances, tins, military, books, stamps, LPs and musical instruments.
We also have a large variety of artwork: paintings, sculpture, Native beadwork. We never know what we are going to find. Our stock is always changing.
Whether you are looking for some home décor accessories, art, antique or vintage furniture or just wanting to share your stories about your collections we would love to meet you. Come for a visit and if you can’t find what you’re looking for we love the challenge of trying to find it for you.
